Proven Knowledge Creation and Management Strategies

Debra is an Alliance Partner and our Strategic Learning Advisor. She collaborates with private and public sector organizations to develop strategies that link capabilities with performance. Debra helps organizations achieve their strategic goals by designing solutions that leverage existing resources while generating new knowledge capability.

As a consultant to Sun Life Financial and Clarica Life Insurance Company, Debra led the development of a highly successful knowledge and learning strategy, drawing from corporate imperatives, culture, values, and technology. She also served as Project Manager and Community Facilitator for Clarica's Agent Network, a community of practice for thousands of agents Canada-wide. Debra designed and implemented the project, facilitated the community's online discussion forum and developed both a process model and best practice case study to guide community development.

Fusing Industry Innovation with Academic Excellence

Debra brings over 25 years of experience in business, consulting, and education. As Assistant to the Dean for Knowledge Management Initiatives at the University of Toronto, Debra contributed in creating competitive advantage for government and private sector organizations by developing new programs that linked information and knowledge management. Bringing together industry visionaries and academic excellence led to her groundbreaking work with Hubert Saint-Onge and the release of their highly-acclaimed book Leveraging Communities of Practice for Strategic Advantage (Butterworth-Heinemann, 2003).

As adjunct faculty at Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science in Boston; continuing education instructor at the University of Toronto; international conference presenter and workshop facilitator; and author of numerous publications, Debra integrates knowledge-sharing principles in all areas of her practice.
